Day 3 at Moonah

With the benefit of the time difference the England Team in Australia have already added another productive practice day. Tomorrow, Saturday, they will be transferring to Adelaide to join the other teams in the final parts of preparation. England Captain Jonathan Plaxton reports:

“An early start in readiness to play The Legends Course at 9 a.m. Following a good breakfast and a session on the range the boys headed for a new course, previously not played by Luke but which Sam and Dale had both played before, and set out for an 18 hole medal. After a solid start a mid round crisis (general play) prompted a ‘time out’ at the 12th where conveniently our lunch boxes were delivered by Andy in the ‘on course halfway house buggy’ !!

As the morning progressed we felt the full effects of the sun and by the time we finished it was hot! Well into the 20’s. Despite repeated reminders the players do not appear to have drunk enough and no doubt will feel the effects later.

Dave Ridley and I kept very detailed stats of the round in which Sam shot +2, Dale +1 and Luke narrowly came third due to lack of course knowledge as much as anything else. The stats enabled us to have a thorough debrief/analysis of the round and the players (following more nourishment!) headed off to the range and putting green once more. A quick visit to a nearby store for ice cream and cold relief (Sam) preceded dinner and an early night.

Having managed to navigate the on site laundry yesterday we all have a clean wardrobe and the boys have decided on the team’s outfits for each day next week. Tomorrow we depart Moonah Links for Adelaide and in order to make the most of Saturday morning we’ll be packing ready for ‘moving day’.
Good morning to you and good night from us!

In the Women’s Espirito Santo Trophy the Swedes are continuing to lead the way, 11 shots clear of Spain in second place. England lie in a tie for 10th after three days. Follow this and any pre tournament information for the men on the web site of the International Golf Federation.
